La construction de la centrale nucléaire de Koeberg en 1980 a suscité une opposition au long cours qui s’est cristallisée en 2014 à 2017 à l’occasion d’une campagne contre un accord nucléaire que le gouvernement sud-africain venait de conclure avec Rosatom, la société nucléaire russe. Après des années de protestations et de batailles juridiques, en 2017, Liz McDaid et Makoma Lekalakala ont remporté un procès historique.

The construction of the Koeberg nuclear power plant in 1980 sparked long-term opposition which crystallized in 2014 to 2017 during a campaign against a nuclear agreement that the South African government had just concluded with Rosatom, the Russian nuclear company. After years of protests and legal battles, in 2017, Liz McDaid and Makoma Lekalakala won a historic lawsuit.
