Mellassine (arabe : الملاسين) est un quartier populaire de Tunis situé près de la banlieue nord-ouest. Peuplé de 6 210 habitants en 2004, il est rattaché au gouvernorat de Tunis.
C’est à partir des années 1940 que le rivage oriental de la sebkha Séjoumi accueille les premiers migrants ruraux et les premiers noyaux de « gourbivilles ». Cette zone doit son nom à l’activité des fabricants de braseros en argile. Les facteurs qui déclenchent cette installation sont la proximité de la médina et l’opacité du statut juridique des terres dont la plupart sont rattachées aux habous.

Mellassine (Arabic: الملاسين) is a popular district of Tunis located near the northwest suburbs. Populated by 6,210 inhabitants in 2004, it is attached to the governorate of Tunis. It was from the 1940s that the eastern shore of the Sebkha Séjoumi welcomed the first rural migrants and the first nuclei of “gourbivilles”. This area owes its name to the activity of clay brazier manufacturers. The factors which trigger this installation are the proximity of the medina and the opacity of the legal status of the lands, most of which are attached to the habous.
