Combattu sans relâche depuis cinq ans par les activistes du climat, le projet de San Pedro aurait dû voir le jour en 2024. Avec une capacité de 700 mégawatts, cette centrale thermique était censée approvisionner en électricité les nombreuses infrastructures industrielles de San Pedro ainsi qu’une grande partie de la Côte d’Ivoire. Elle aurait dû être construite par l’entreprise chinoise PowerChina et exploitée par la société ivoirienne S.Energies.

Relentlessly fought for five years by climate activists, the San Pedro project should have seen the light of day in 2024. With a capacity of 700 megawatts, this thermal power plant was supposed to supply electricity to San Pedro's numerous industrial infrastructures as well as a large part of Ivory Coast. It should have been built by the Chinese company PowerChina and operated by the Ivorian company S.Energies.
