Carlos Drummond de Andrade, « Lira Itabirana », 1984
La Lira itabirana a été publiée dans le journal O Cometa Itabirano en 1984, mais elle n’apparaît dans aucune anthologie poétique de Drummond. Les vers mentionnent la Vale et le Rio Doce, et racontent la voracité des sociétés minières nationales et étrangères qui dévastent la montagne minière, arrachent le minerai précieux de la terre et s’en vont vers les marchés internationaux, laissant derrière elles une terre dévastée ; et la dette impayable de l’exploitation minière envers les populations minières et l’environnement.

The Lira Itabirana was published in the newspaper O Cometa Itabirano in 1984, but it does not appear in any poetic anthology of Drummond’s work. The verses mention Vale and Rio Doce , and tell the greed of national and foreign mining companies that ravage the mining mountains, extract the valuable ore from the earth, and leave for international markets, leaving behind a devastated land; and the unpaid debt of mining towards mining communities and the environment.
