Helga Kohl est une photographe namibienne née en 1943 en Silésie. Elle est connue notamment pour son travail sur les villes minières abandonnées en Namibie. Elle est membre de l’association Professional Photographers in Southern Africa (PPSA) et ses œuvres ont été exposées et collectionnées dans le monde entier.

Elle a découvert le site de Kolmanskop dès 1971. Ses photographies montrent comment la nature et notamment des dunes de sable se réapproprient la ville minière, en grande partie abandonnée en 1954. Elle est retournée sur le site pendant plusieurs décennies pour capturer les changements de lumière, d’ombre et l’évolution architecturale.

She discovered the Kolmanskop site in 1971. Her photographs show how nature, particularly sand dunes, reclaimed the mining town, largely abandoned in 1954. She returned to the site for several decades to capture the changes in light , shadow and architectural evolution. Source Wikipedia
