Un livre dédié aux peuples indigènes de la région amazonienne du Brésil ; un hommage à leur rôle en tant que gardiens de la beauté, des ressources naturelles et de la biodiversité de la plus grande forêt tropicale de la planète face à l’attaque implacable du monde extérieur. « Dans ce travail, j’ai voulu photographier l’Amazonie vivante. L’Amazonie morte, détruite par l’orpaillage et le feu, je ne l’ai pas cherchée », Sebastião Salgado.

A book dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Amazon region in Brazil; a tribute to their role as guardians of the beauty, natural resources, and biodiversity of the largest tropical forest on the planet in the face of the relentless attack from the outside world. « In this work, I wanted to photograph the living Amazon. The dead Amazon, destroyed by gold mining and fire, I did not seek », Sebastião Salgado.
